Unlike the vast soundscapes of TSOCC, Skinwalker takes on a more stripped down raw folk sound. Set in the forest around Halloween it tells the story of a rational human's steady demise into insanity. The album begins with someone or something hiding in the bushes watching a man sitting on his porch reading the paper in the early morning. The album then tells the story of a twisted surreal childhood that eventually leads to the man on the front porch standing at the entrance to a dark forest. He addresses his slow decline of mental stability and loss of morality. Eventually at this point he gives in to the dark forces of the forest which turn him into the Skinwalker. By the end everything blurs and he has completely transformed away from his original self. The final track is the revelation that the man on the porch and the creature in the bushes were the same being. The creature in the bushes was the Skinwalker in the form of a lawn gnome.
